What I can do and where I do it.

Maybe the portfolio isn’t enough to sway you. Maybe you just want to know more. Okay, sure, here’s some more info:

What.

I work with these technologies often:

  • HTML / XHTML (and yes, I know the difference)
  • CSS
  • Javascript
  • PHP

Those four bullets will let me build you a successful website.

Additionally, if you are looking for someone to do minor updates or maintenance on a website using ColdFusion or ASP Classic, I can help you as well. Depending on the scope of your project, I may even be willing to build a new website on top of one of those technologies. Tell me more and I’ll let you know if I can handle it, or will likely be able to suggest someone who can.

I also have experience in Instructional Technology. I’ve spent many years teaching workshops, tutoring, and aiding college students and professors in various technologies. So, I know how to explain things to you in English, not Techspeak.

What qualifies me?

If the projects I’ve worked on don’t convince you, here are a few points of professional history:

  • I currently sunlight as a Web Developer for Quadsimia, a company in New York Mills, NY.
  • I spent over 5 years working for Heavy Frequency Magazine as a Designer, Developer, and Assistant Editor. My official title was Assistant Editor, Director of Digital Media.
  • I’ve been working with Web technologies in a professional manner for ten years now.
  • I have a B.A. in Computer Science with a minor in Digital Arts from Hamilton College.

What I don’t do.

I won’t code you a content management system (CMS) from the ground up. For one, I hate back-end coding. More importantly, there are many robust, often even free solutions that are far less buggy and come with a support contingent. I will use well-supported applications (including CMSs) to tailor a project to fit your needs. In the long run, this means you’ll spend less and get better results.

I also won’t leave you high and dry, as long as you fulfill your end of the bargain. A successful website requires collaboration between both the developer (me) and the client (you). I can design it, build it, and even maintain it, but I need you to work with me to identify your goals. I’ll work with you to identify goals, milestones, and the best way to keep your site up and running, regardless of whether it means I do continuing maintenance, or train you to do it yourself. Work with me and we can create a great online presence for you.

Where.

In the realm of Internet business, especially freelancing, I don’t need to be located where you are. But, if you’re wondering, or looking for someone local, I live, work and play in Utica, NY.

Why?

It’s simply what I like to do. So, I do it. Sounds like a good job to me.
